This website is run by Jacobstow Parish Council and the Jacobstow Journal. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

Although the photo gallery can be controlled with a keyboard, it could be improved for keyboard users. Currently focus is not restricted to the light box window making it hard to see which element has focus. Possible fixes are being investigated.

Disproportionate burden

Some PDFs on our website, such the four linked on the Parish Council page, are scanned images or have extremely complex layouts. This means that it is not practical to make accessible versions.

Currently, it is not practical to create a fully accessible version of the Jacobstow Journal.

Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations

PDFs and other documents

The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they’re not essential to providing our services. For example, we do not plan to fix older agenda and minutes.

Where possible, new content will be published as accessible web pages, rather than PDFs or Word documents.


What we’re doing to improve accessibility

All new content is added in an accessible format where possible. An accessibility audit is completed every year. This includes manually testing of a selection of pages and using an automated scanner across all pages.


Preparation of this accessibility statement

This statement was prepared on 23 February 2021. It was last reviewed on 18 March 2024.

This website was last tested on 18 March 2024. The test was carried out by Bude Solutions.

Automated testing of the whole website using pa11y / axe revealed no errors (aside from some issues with colour contrast that were falsely flagged - manual checking confirmed that colour contrast does comply with WCAG 2.1 AA).

Manual testing of common accessibility issues was undertaken on a selection of 12 pages.
